Consumer Price Index Comparison (Atlanta and Benchmark Cities)

As measured by the Consumer Price Index, Atlanta has remained relatively affordable when compared to other key benchmark ciites. The index, which is pegged to 1982-84 as 100, climbed from 176.2 in 2001 to 209.1 in 2011 for metro Atlanta. During this same period the index for Boston increased from 191.5 to 243.9, while in San Francisco/San Jose it increased from 189.9 to 233.4.
